What is Healthy Eating??
To us healthy eating means good food grown and prepared in
traditional ways.
We enjoy beef matured in sides, not taken from a vacuum bag.
Free range pork! Pork reared in this way is usually a little older and being active the meat is much more firm and dry.
We don’t want to know about chicken imported with a water content, we want to eat local chicken each weighing a minimum of 2 kg, if our recipe calls for chicken breast we want it cut from a whole chicken not taken from a pack.
This is all very well if you have no eating problems, but not everybody is that lucky. For instance lots of people have a problem with Gluten, so we have developed a range of healthy and tasty Gluten Free sausages and burgers. Sausages do not need fillers like Breadcrumb or Rusk, in fact the U.K is possibly the only place that they are used. In Germany for instance sausages are all meat, in fact we have never found an international recipe using any form of filler. Some massed produced gluten free sausages use a filler made from pea husk.
All our gluten free sausage and burgers contain just meat and spice. Ideal for Coeliac sufferers, anyone with Autism and anybody following ‘The Atkins Diet’ where you cannot mix proteins and carbohydrates.
Other people with Heart Conditions or Diabetics have to avoid fat. Well our gluten free sausages are ideal, not only are our recipes ultra lean but due to the fact there is no filler you will notice the natural fat in the meat run away if you prick the sausages and then grill them.
One thing we feel very strongly about is salt. We are constantly being warned about too much salt in our diet, so we only use 12 grams of salt to every kilo of meat, other sausages can contain up to double the amount.
We DO NOT use colourings, anti-oxidants, dairy products or flavour enhancers. We also mix our own sausage seasonings using only natural ingredients. |
